Crockpot Whole Grain Cereal

  • 2 1/2 tbsp. #3 coarse bulgur
  • 2 1/2 tbsp. brown rice
  • 2 tbsp. barley
  • 2 tbsp. millet
  • 2 tbsp. cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup plus 2 Tbsp chopped dried mixed fruit
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla
  1. All grains go into the crockpot uncooked. Proportions are critical in the recipe. Use any combination desired so long as the total equals one cup for every three cups water used.
  2. Spray the inside of the slow cooker with nonstick spray. Combine all the grains, the dried fruit and cinnamon in slow cooker and mix well. Stir in water and vanilla. Cover slow cooker and cook for 6 to 8 hours on low. Stir the cereal before serving. You can add more water to change the texture.
