Featured Recipe — Lucky Lucci Lentil Soup With Grano
My father, Carl Orlando, is 100% Sicilian and, as such, is very much into food. He took a recipe that I had and added his own flair and Italian style to create a soup "like my mother used to make". It is really good and harkens back to the simplicity and wholesomeness of the old days in the Sicilian countryside where my grandparents grew up. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as my family does. Va bene!

Lucky Lucci Lentil Soup With Grano
Ingredients
1/3 cup chopped onion
1/3 cup chopped bell pepper
2 minced garlic cloves
2 tablespoons olive oil
1-1/2 qt. water
1/3 cup diced carrots
1 cup brown lentils
1/3 cup Grano
1 sm. can tomato sauce
1/2 cup small shell macaroni (optional)
salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Sauté onion , bell pepper and garlic in olive oil. In a 3-qt. pan, add water, carrots, lentils and Grano. Cook on medium heat. Add tomato sauce and salt/pepper. Simmer 30 minutes or until tender. Add macaroni in the last 5 minutes. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and drizzle with olive oil.
